L’Haflinger di Strembo – schianto di Cavallo è una scultura situata presso il paese di Strembo, all’interno del parco Giorgio Ducoli.
L’idea della realizzazione è nata dall’Associazione Culturale Strembo e Tradizione. Si voleva dedicare al paese e alla Val Rendena un’attrazione in cui potessero rispecchiarsi. Il cavallo Haflinger era in passato per l’agricoltura della zona il trattore dei nostri giorni. Oggi è diventato un’attrazione turistica.
L’idea di creare un’opera eticamente connessa alla natura, al suo rispetto, al suo intelligente connubio con l’uomo, al suo ciclo di vita, ha fatto sì che si scegliesse l’artista Martalar.
La statua è stata creata recuperando le radici degli alberi spezzati dalla tempesta Vaia. Si è scelto l’essenza di larice perchè il colore è simile a quello sauro dell’ haflinger ma anche perché molto resistente, proprio come l’haflinger. La ricerca di tali radici, circa una ventina, è durata più di un anno, provengono da diverse zone delle Giudicarie, a partire da Madonna di Campiglio sino a Storo.
Per avere un effetto pelo di cavallo le radici sono state sfibrate meccanicamente.
La scelta di posizionare la statua nel Parco Girogio Ducoli è perché è facilmente raggiungibile a piedi ed in bicicletta dalla pista ciclabile.
La durata della statua è stata stimata da un minimo di 10 anni ad un massimo di 20, dopodichè la natura si riprenderà ciò che ha creato e ciò che l’uomo ha saputo valorizzare.

The Haflinger of Strembo – also known as the “Horse Root Sculpture” – is an artwork located near the village of Strembo, within Giorgio Ducoli Park.
The idea for the project originated from the Strembo e Tradizione Cultural Association, with the aim of creating an attraction that reflects the identity of the village and the Val Rendena. In the past, the Haflinger horse played a crucial role in local agriculture, much like tractors do today. Nowadays, it has also become a symbol of tourism.
The intention was to create a piece deeply connected to nature—one that expresses respect for it, highlights its harmonious relationship with humans, and reflects its life cycle. For this reason, the artist Marco Martalar was chosen.
The sculpture was made using roots from trees broken by Storm Vaia. Larch wood was selected both for its color, similar to the chestnut coat of the Haflinger, and for its durability—qualities that mirror the strength of the horse itself. The search for these roots, around twenty in total, lasted over a year and involved several areas of the Giudicarie region, from Madonna di Campiglio to Storo.
To recreate the effect of horsehair, the roots were mechanically processed and frayed.
The statue was placed in Giorgio Ducoli Park because it is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, thanks to the nearby cycle path.
The lifespan of the sculpture is estimated to range from 10 to 20 years, after which nature will gradually reclaim what it created and what humans have enhanced.

Der Haflinger von Strembo – auch als „Wurzelpferd“ bekannt – ist eine Skulptur in der Nähe des Dorfes Strembo im Giorgio-Ducoli-Park.
Die Idee für dieses Projekt entstand aus der Kulturvereinigung Strembo e Tradizione mit dem Ziel, eine Attraktion zu schaffen, die die Identität des Ortes und des Val Rendena widerspiegelt. Früher war das Haflinger-Pferd für die Landwirtschaft der Region so wichtig wie heute ein Traktor. Heute ist es zudem zu einem touristischen Symbol geworden.
Ziel war es, ein Werk zu schaffen, das eng mit der Natur verbunden ist – ein Ausdruck von Respekt, von der harmonischen Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Umwelt sowie vom Kreislauf des Lebens. Aus diesem Grund fiel die Wahl auf den Künstler Marco Martalar.
Die Skulptur wurde aus Wurzeln von Bäumen gefertigt, die durch den Sturm Vaia beschädigt wurden. Als Holzart wurde Lärche gewählt, da ihre Farbe dem kastanienbraunen Fell des Haflingers ähnelt und sie gleichzeitig sehr widerstandsfähig ist – Eigenschaften, die auch das Pferd auszeichnen. Die Suche nach diesen Wurzeln, insgesamt etwa zwanzig, dauerte über ein Jahr und umfasste verschiedene Gebiete der Giudicarie, von Madonna di Campiglio bis Storo.
Um die Wirkung von Pferdehaar zu erzielen, wurden die Wurzeln mechanisch aufgeraut und bearbeitet.
Der Standort im Giorgio-Ducoli-Park wurde gewählt, da er leicht zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad über den nahegelegenen Radweg erreichbar ist.
Die Lebensdauer der Skulptur wird auf etwa 10 bis 20 Jahre geschätzt. Danach wird die Natur nach und nach zurückfordern, was sie hervorgebracht hat und was der Mensch zu gestalten wusste.
