Il Museo Archeologico dell’Alto Adige ospita i reperti originali dell’Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio (Ötzi) e racconta la sua storia: dalla scoperta e dalla copertura mediatica, alla ricerca scientifica sulla mummia di circa 5.000 anni fa e sul suo corredo, fino a interviste e postazioni interattive. Tra gli elementi più suggestivi vi è la ricostruzione di Ötzi così come doveva apparire in vita. Il museo propone inoltre mostre temporanee su temi archeologici.

L’esposizione permanente si sviluppa su tre piani ed è interamente dedicata all’Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio (Ötzi), illustrando tutto ciò che riguarda la mummia più celebre al mondo. Si parte dalle circostanze del ritrovamento, avvenuto il 19 settembre 1991, e dalla risonanza mediatica internazionale, per proseguire con i reperti originali – mummia, abbigliamento ed equipaggiamento – e approfondire la vita quotidiana nell’Età del Rame e i diversi aspetti della ricerca scientifica legata a questa scoperta. Tra i pezzi forti c’è la ricostruzione tridimensionale realistica di Ötzi, che permette di “incontrare” l’Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio nel suo possibile aspetto in vita.

The Museo Archeologico dell’Alto Adige houses the original remains of the Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio (Ötzi) and tells his story: from the discovery and media coverage, to the scientific research on the 5,000-year-old mummy and his equipment, as well as interviews and interactive exhibits. A highlight is the reconstruction of Ötzi as he might have appeared in life. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions on archaeological themes.

The permanent exhibition spans three floors and is entirely dedicated to Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio (Ötzi), covering everything worth knowing about the world’s most famous mummy. It begins with the circumstances of the discovery on September 19, 1991, and the worldwide media attention, continues with the original artifacts – mummy, clothing, and equipment – and explores daily life in the Copper Age and various aspects of the scientific research surrounding this landmark find. One of the main highlights is the realistic three-dimensional reconstruction of Ötzi, allowing visitors to “meet” the Iceman as he may have looked in life.

Das Museo Archeologico dell’Alto Adige zeigt die Originalfunde des Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio (Ötzi) und erzählt seine Geschichte: von der Entdeckung und der Medienresonanz über die wissenschaftliche Forschung an der etwa 5.000 Jahre alten Mumie und ihrer Ausrüstung bis hin zu Interviews und interaktiven Stationen. Besonders beeindruckend ist die Rekonstruktion von Ötzi, wie er zu Lebzeiten ausgesehen haben könnte. Das Museum präsentiert zudem wechselnde archäologische Sonderausstellungen.

Die Dauerausstellung erstreckt sich über drei Etagen und ist vollständig dem Uomo venuto dal ghiaccio (Ötzi) gewidmet, wobei alles Wissenswerte über die weltweit bekannteste Mumie vermittelt wird. Beginnend mit den Umständen der Entdeckung am 19. September 1991 und der internationalen Medienresonanz, werden anschließend die Originalfunde – Mumie, Kleidung und Ausrüstung – gezeigt, sowie das Alltagsleben in der Kupferzeit und die verschiedenen Aspekte der wissenschaftlichen Forschung rund um diese bedeutende Entdeckung erläutert. Ein Höhepunkt ist die realistische dreidimensionale Rekonstruktion von Ötzi, die den Besuchern ermöglicht, den Mann aus dem Eis in seinem möglichen Erscheinungsbild zu „treffen“.
