The sculpture was made using wood from trees that were knocked down by Storm Vaia, the violent weather event that devastated large forest areas in Northern Italy in October 2018. Der Vaia-Bär, geschaffen von Marco Martalar, ist eine beeindruckende Kunstinstallation auf dem Pradel-Plateau im Herzen der Brenta-Dolomiten. Dieses Werk aus Holz besticht nicht nur durch seine Größe, sondern auch durch seine tiefe Bedeutung: eine Geschichte von Erneuerung, Stärke und Respekt gegenüber der Natur.

Die Skulptur wurde aus Holz gefertigt, das von Bäumen stammt, die durch den Sturm Vaia gefällt wurden – ein heftiges Wetterereignis, das im Oktober 2018 große Waldgebiete in Norditalien verwüstete. Mit seiner Arbeit verwandelte Martalar die Überreste der Zerstörung in eine neue Ausdrucksform und gab den gebrochenen Stämmen neuen Wert und Würde.
