Il Santuario della Madonna del Carmine sorge in una zona tranquilla e appartata, a breve distanza dal centro di San Felice del Benaco, ed è facilmente raggiungibile anche a piedi. L’edificio, costruito nel Quattrocento, si distingue per lo stile semplice e sobrio tipico del tardo gotico lombardo.

Nonostante un prolungato periodo di abbandono, all’interno sono ancora visibili affreschi realizzati tra il XV e il XVI secolo. Secondo la tradizione, la chiesa sarebbe stata edificata per volontà dei pescatori locali, desiderosi di ringraziare la Vergine per la protezione ricevuta durante le tempeste affrontate nelle loro attività sul lago.

The Santuario della Madonna del Carmine stands in a peaceful and secluded area, yet it is only a short distance from the center of San Felice del Benaco and can easily be reached on foot. Built in the 15th century, the church features the simple and understated style typical of Lombard Late Gothic architecture.

Despite a long period of neglect, frescoes dating from the 15th and 16th centuries can still be admired inside. According to local tradition, the church was built at the request of local fishermen who wished to thank the Virgin Mary for protecting them from violent storms during their journeys across the lake.

Das Santuario della Madonna del Carmine befindet sich in ruhiger und abgeschiedener Lage, unweit des Zentrums von San Felice del Benaco, und ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Das im 15. Jahrhundert errichtete Gebäude zeichnet sich durch einen schlichten, für die lombardische Spätgotik typischen Baustil aus.

Trotz einer längeren Zeit des Verfalls sind im Inneren noch Fresken aus dem 15. und 16. Jahrhundert erhalten. Der Überlieferung nach wurde die Kirche auf Wunsch der örtlichen Fischer erbaut, die der Jungfrau Maria für ihren Schutz vor heftigen Stürmen während ihrer Fahrten auf dem See danken wollten.
