The Fountain of Moses is located in Piazza III Novembre in Arco.
It closes the western side of the square.
The fountain is in the Baroque style.
It is carved in oolite, a stone quarried in the Dosso di Vastrè area, a few minutes from Arco.
This kind of limestone is particularly suitable to be worked to produce statues, to embellish the tops of columns, to create altars or capitals.
Giving some examples, the statues that adorn the Taro Bridge in Parma, the fountain in Piazza Duomo in Trento, the statues in Prato della Valle in Padua, some statues in the Collegiata Church in Arco were also sculpted with this stone.
The Moses fountain dates back to the seventeenth century and depicts Moses with Counts of Arco's coat of arms in the centre.
Drinking water flows from this fountain.
In the same square there is the Collegiata church of Santa Maria Assunta and Palazzo Nuovo (aka Palazzo Giuliani Marcabruni).
