Castello Scaligero di Lazise

Il Castello Scaligero è senza dubbio uno degli elementi che colpiscono immediatamente chi arriva in città: con le sue mura imponenti rappresenta uno dei simboli più riconoscibili di Lazise.

Questa maestosa fortificazione venne costruita tra il 1375 e il 1381 durante il dominio dei Signori di Verona, Bartolomeo II della Scala e Antonio della Scala.

In origine la cinta muraria era dotata di tre principali accessi, ancora oggi visibili e utilizzati: la Porta Superiore, oggi nota come Porta San Zeno; la Porta Lion, che esponeva il simbolo della Repubblica di Venezia, ovvero il leone; e Porta Nuova, la più recente, oggi chiamata Porta Cansignorio.

Il Castello di Lazise è attualmente una proprietà privata e non visitabile internamente, ma le sue mura ben conservate e le caratteristiche torri merlate possono essere ammirate dall’esterno.

This impressive fortress was built between 1375 and 1381 during the rule of the Lords of Verona, Bartolomeo II della Scala and Antonio della Scala.

Originally, the city walls featured three main gates, all still visible and in use today: the Upper Gate, now known as Porta San Zeno; Porta Lion, which once displayed the emblem of the Republic of Venice—the winged lion; and Porta Nuova, the most recent, now called Porta Cansignorio.

Today, the Castello di Lazise is privately owned and not open to visitors, but its well-preserved walls and distinctive crenellated towers can still be admired from the outside.
