Il Castello di Torri del Benaco fu edificato nel 1383 per volontà degli Scaligeri, antichi signori di Verona. La struttura è caratterizzata da tre torri merlate e da un imponente mastio centrale.

Per lungo tempo il castello rimase in stato di abbandono, fino a quando un importante intervento di restauro, completato nel 1983, lo riportò al suo antico splendore.

All’interno si trova una suggestiva limonaia costruita nel 1760, dove ancora oggi crescono diverse varietà di agrumi come limoni, aranci, mandarini e cedri. Il castello ospita inoltre un museo etnografico dedicato alla storia, alla cultura e alle tradizioni del Lago di Garda, con spazi dedicati ad attività tipiche come la pesca, la coltivazione dell’olivo e testimonianze della vita del territorio.

Il complesso è visitabile fino alla cima del mastio, da cui si può ammirare una splendida vista panoramica sul lago e sul borgo di Torri del Benaco.

Torri del Benaco Castle was built in 1383 by order of the Scaligeri, the rulers of Verona at the time. The fortress is distinguished by three battlemented towers and a large central keep.

For many years the castle fell into neglect, until an important restoration project—completed in 1983—brought it back to its former appearance.

Inside the complex there is a remarkable lemon greenhouse built in 1760, which still hosts several varieties of citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, mandarins, and citrons. The castle also houses an ethnographic museum dedicated to the history, culture, and traditions of the Lake Garda area, with sections focused on activities such as fishing, olive cultivation, and historical traces of local life.

Visitors can explore the entire castle up to the top of the keep, where a beautiful panoramic view of the lake and the town can be enjoyed.

Die Burg von Torri del Benaco wurde im Jahr 1383 im Auftrag der Scaliger, der damaligen Herren von Verona, errichtet. Die Anlage zeichnet sich durch drei zinnengekrönte Türme und einen großen zentralen Bergfried aus.

Lange Zeit befand sich die Burg in einem Zustand des Verfalls, bis eine bedeutende Restaurierung, die 1983 abgeschlossen wurde, ihr wieder zu ihrem früheren Glanz verhalf.

Im Inneren befindet sich eine besondere Limonaia aus dem Jahr 1760, in der noch heute verschiedene Zitrusfrüchte wie Zitronen, Orangen, Mandarinen und Cedrat-Zitronen angebaut werden. Außerdem beherbergt die Burg ein ethnografisches Museum über Geschichte, Kultur und Traditionen der Gardasee-Region, mit Bereichen zu typischen Tätigkeiten wie Fischerei, Olivenanbau und historischen Zeugnissen des lokalen Lebens.

Die Burg kann vollständig bis hinauf zum Bergfried besichtigt werden, von dessen Spitze sich ein wunderschöner Panoramablick auf den See und den Ort Torri del Benaco bietet.
